Match: Stoke City Vs Crewe Alexandra
Bit of a local derby between ourselves and Crewe today and everyone was up for it. For the first ten minutes the game was scrappy with neither team willing to give the other any time or space on the ball. As the first half drew on we started to get into the game and played some good attacking stuff which was rewarded when we were given a penalty when one of our forwards, Louis, was brought down in the box.
He picked himself up to take the penalty but his attempt was saved by the Crewe keeper and he then missed the rebound by putting the ball wide of the post. We continued to press and again made a few chances but nothing clear cut.
Second half the game started the same as the first with both teams keeping it tight at the back. Up until the hour mark that is when our defenders was said to have handled in the area and it was our turn to face a penalty against us. Crewe’s taker coolly converted the spot kick and we found ourselves 1-0 down. Straight from the resulting kick off we pressed and played good forward positive play and were all over Crewe like a rash but again, just like the first half we could not make any of the chances count and found ourselves on the wrong side of a 1-0 score line.
