Matete Joins Trotters On Loan

League One side Bolton Wanderers have signed Jay Matete on a season-long loan from Sunderland.

The former Fleetwood Town apprentice has two promotions from League One on his resume already with Sunderland and Plymouth respectively.

Bolton are strong candidates for promotion this season, and Trotters boss Ian Evatt believes Matete’s pedigree in the division can help them push for a return to the Championship.

“We were interested in him before he went to Sunderland, so we’re very excited to be working with him now.

“He has been with teams that have been promoted out of this league for the last three years, so he has good experience in knowing what it takes, and he brings a different profile and skillset to our other midfielders.”
