League Football Education was delighted to welcome Scott McGleish to Progression 09 at The Madjeski Stadium in Reading last Thursday.
The in-form Leyton Orient striker appeared at the event as an LFE Ambassador within his remit on The PFA’s Management committee.
Currently on loan at Orient from Wycombe Wanderers, McGleish is enjoying a new lease of life at Brisbane Road where his arrival has coincided with an upturn in results that has seen Orient move clear of the relegation zone and virtually ensure their League One status.
With 5 goals in 12 starts for the O’s, McGleish is proving that life as a footballer can extend well into your 30’s.
Out of contract in the summer but with plenty still to offer McGleish is hopeful that this time next season he’ll still be banging in the goals however, he is also aware of the perils that await many out of contract players this summer.
He says;
“I’m enjoying every minute of my time at Orient. It’s just great to be playing again after an indifferent period at Wycombe Wanderers this season. As long as I can perform to the level I’m capable of and make positive contributions long may it continue.”
“I’m out of contract this summer at Wycombe and while I’m confident I’ve got plenty left in the tank I can also recognise why events like today are important for all players.”
“The opportunities that today can provide are valuable to players at any stage of their career as LFE has attracted some of the UK’s leading employers and education and training institutions. Being able to liaise face to face with these organisations can be vital in starting afresh once you’re playing days are over.”
