Match: Stoke City vs Manchester United
Match day and the pressure was on in the form of TV cameras with our game being shown live on MUTV. Man United is always a big game and we started positively forcing 7 corners in the opening 10 minutes. After this period of dominance Man United came back into the game and we had to do some defending of our own when Man Utd counter attacked and won a corner. It turned out that we couldn’t defend the corner and we were 1 nil down after controlling much of the game.
We quickly reasserted ourselves and just before half time we drew level when forward Nathan MacDonald converted a free kick from the edge of the box with the little aid of a deflection from the Utd wall. We then had a great chance to go ahead before the break when our other forward Dean McCormick went close and forced a good save from the keeper. In the second half it was all up for grabs but after chances for both teams it was Man Utd who took all three points and a long range effort skidded past our keeper when it looked like it was going to be a comfortable save.
