Two Blackburn Rovers Academy graduates scored their first goals in professional football during Tuesday evening’s Carabao Cup first round triumph over Walsall.
Zak Gilsenan and Jake Garrett both contributed with first and second half goals respectively as Blackburn edged past a valiant Saddlers side to make it through to the second round.
Gilsenan’s goal was made even more special due to the fact it came in his Rovers debut. Post match, Gilsenan said: “This is what i’ve worked towards my whole life. To top it off with a win and a goal, it couldn’t get any better. I loved every minute of it!”
