A late goal from Ash Taylor earned Tranmere passage in to the second round of The FA Cup as Rovers came through a first-round replay at Leyton Orient last night.
In an uneventful first half Orient could not make their territorial advantage count and produced only token efforts from Tamika Mkandawire, Scott McGleish, John Milligan and Sean Thornton which failed to trouble Rovers’ keeper Luke Daniels.
Chris Shukers fumbled effort was the only effort of note for Rovers in the first half.
With the game seemingly set for extra time, youngster Taylor, sealed the deal for Rovers when he converted a Shaleum Logan’s cross after 83 minutes.
The result which will come as a boost to Caretaker boss Les Parry, means that Rovers will now play host to Aldershot at Prenton Park in round two on Saturday, November 28.
