Rochdale Youth team complete charity abseil

Congratulations go to Rochdale’s Youth Team who scaled the heights of Botany Bay’s Canal Mill in Chorley, Lancashire on Good Friday to take part in a 90ft charity abseil.

The squad, along with gaffer Chris Beech and Centre of Excellence Manager Tony Ellis, took their leap of faith on the rainy bank holiday to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Despite the wet weather the lads gathered on the roof of the mill and one by one stepped over the edge to accomplish the 90ft abseil.

Botany Bay

Youth Coach Chris Beech, whose six year old son Brandon suffers from CF, originally signed up to do the fundraising abseil but his young squad were all behind the event and agreed to take part.

LFE Online was on hand to catch Beechy’s thoughts after his descent from the top,

“I was a bit nervous when I came over the edge but I’m pleased to have completed the abseil and I’m proud of all the lads for their efforts. We’re delighted to have raised money and awareness for the charity.”
