Three Irish apprentices released by Millwall have found new and exciting homes for the forthcoming season.
While Republic of Ireland Under-19s left-back Danny Fitzsimmons has signed a six-month contract with QPR, Northern Ireland duo Wayne Drummond and Chris Hegarty have been given one-year deals at Glasgow giants Rangers.
They have joined the SPL champions after impressing on trial and for their country, playing against Spain Under-19s in a friendly in Spring and then a UEFA Under-19 championship qualifiying tournament in Russia, where they came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with the hosts, then lost 3-2 to Italy before going down 3-1 to the Czech Republic.
Goalkeeper Drummond, from Belfast, started the final game while centre-back Hegarty played in all three.
They will start training with the Ibrox club later this month and are eligible for their Under-19s and reserve teams. Fitzsimmons began playing immediately for QPR, appearing in their victorious Football League Youth Alliance Cup Final win over Stockport County in May.
