Welcome To My Blog… Patrick Nzuzi

Since this is my first blog, I’ll start by introducing myself. My name is Patrick Nzuzi, I’m 16 and I’m currently a first year Apprentice at the Newcastle United Academy.

I’m originally from the Congo but moved to England 5 years ago. I have been involved with Newcastle United since I was 13 years of age after being spotted playing for Wallsend Boys Club.

Wallsend has a fantastic tradition of producing players and former graduates of the club include: Alan Shearer, Steve Watson, Peter Beardsley, Michael Carrick and Lee Clark to name but a few.

I got a good grounding there and was really happy to then join Newcastle United as a schoolboy. After spending three years here I was delighted this summer when I got the opportunity to join the club on a full time basis when signing as an Apprentice for the next two seasons.

This is a new experience for me and as a first year Apprentice I have had to get used to playing and training on full time basis. I currently play as a right full back however I have also played on the right wing and even at centre half, though I’m not sure that Fabricio Coloccini or Steven Taylor have too much to worry about just yet!
