Winchester In Irish Line-up Downed By Danes

Oldham Athletic youngster Carl Winchester could do little to prevent Northern Ireland’s U21’s falling to a 3-0 defeat by Denmark yesterday.

Winchester who played the full 90 minutes watched the visitors take a 6 minute lead courtesy of Nicklas Helenius.

And despite the Danes then being reduced to ten men on 42 minutes, after the dismissal of Deniz Aytekin, the Irish were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

Andreas Laudrup son of former Danish Star Michael, added a second with nine minutes remaining and Emil Larsen made it 3-0 deep into added time.
