Young U's Pull Off Giant Killing

Young U’s Pull Off Giant Killing

Cambridge United U18s made FA Youth Cup history last night by knocking out nine times winners of the competition, Chelsea.

The hosts welcomed the Premier League outfit to the Abbey Stadium in good spirits having won five consecutive games in the build up to the fourth round tie.

Their Youth Cup run to date had also included some impressive results. Close encounters versus both Stevenage and Portsmouth secured their place in the third round, before dispatching Colchester United 0-6 to set up a date with Chelsea.

Captain Jaydyn Lott’s powerful header on the half hour mark proved to be the only goal of the game as the U’s defended with grit and determination for the remainder of the match to see out a statement win under the lights.

They will now face Sheffield Wednesday at home in the fifth round.
