The Monterey region had been waiting for a club to call their own; a professional sports team at the highest levels built with the community and for the community. A club that represents both people and place and embodies all that is the wonder, beauty, magic and diversity of Monterey Bay. On February 1, 2021, the United Soccer League (USL) announced Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) joined USL Championship for the 2022 season. With the announcement, the expansion club became one of two new additions to the league for the 2022 season alongside Detroit City FC. Monterey Bay F.C. is committed to elevating the world’s game in a region that has long embraced soccer. Our matches on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay will be a place to gather as a community, and our crest will be something that we will all want to wear over our hearts.
